Salon de Sol is a full service tanning, hair, and nail salon. We offer a variety of tanning options including: Single Visit, Monthly, Salon de Sol Club, and Sunless Tanning to satisfy all skin types. Our salon also offers a full variety of hair and nails services for the entire family. We carry a full line of tanning, hair care, and nail care products, and offer special order for those unique client requests. Monday - Friday: 10:00AM - 6:00PM
Saturday: 10:00AM - 3:00PM
Do I need an appointment?
For tanning, no, an appointment isn't needed and the last client is accepted 20 minutes prior to posted closing. For all other services, including sunless tanning, hair, and nails, appointments are encouraged (3 or more hours notice) with walk-ins available by chance.
What is your business closure policy?
We reserve the right to suspend operations at any time and for any reason (including weather and maintenance), with notice to the client. Notice will be made as soon as possible through a variety of avenues including temporary signs, social media, etc. Please refer to http://www.salondesol.com/weather.html for more info.
What is your age policy?
Clients must be 18 years of age to schedule appointments. Per KRS 217.922, all clients under the age of 18 require parental/legal guardian consent; under the age of 16 must also be accompanied by a parent/guardian at time of service. Please note that the FDA recommends that sunlamp products should not be used on persons under the age of 18 year. Parents and minors should fully read and understand our tanning facility warning before using our products and services!
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, credit cards (including EFT), and Salon de Sol Gift Certificates. All sales are final and we do not issue refunds or exchanges.
What is your bad check handling policy?
Please be aware that a $50.00 bad checking handling fee will be charged for all returned checks pursuant to KRS 515.040(4)(b).
What is your gift certificate policy?
We offer customizable (To/From), non-refundable, single use gift certificates for all of our services in any dollar amount. All sales are final; the gift certificate cannot be exchanged or refunded for any reason. We will not issue credit for a lost or stolen gift certificate.
Gift Certificate Redemption
A valid gift certificate must be presented at the time of service for proper credit. The gift certificate must be redeemed in full by the expiration date and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. There is no cash value of the gift certificate; it cannot be redeemed for cash.
Gift Certificate Tracking
All gift certificates have a tracking number, include an authorized signature, and established expiration date that is one year from date of purchase, pursuant to KRS 367.890. Gift certificates are the responsibility of the purchaser or recipient, and should be treated as cash.
Why am I asked if I have protective eye wear before tanning?
State and federal regulations require protective eye wear be worn every time you tan; eye wear must provide the client with 99% UVA and 99.9% UVB ray protection. That is why we ensure that you have protective eye wear that comply with these regulations each time you tan with us.
Can I allow someone else to tan under my account?
All tanning, sunless tanning, visits, packages, and SDS Club Memberships are single client use only; we do not permit sharing with other clients.
What if I don't have funds in my account to cover my EFT?
We reserve the right, and you authorize, our attempts to recharge the payment method on file after the initial charge on a daily basis until successful; attempts will be made if payment is declined for any reason and your contract agreement balance remains unpaid. We will not be held responsible for any overdraft fees that may occur as a result of these attempted charges. Your ability to tan will be restricted until your account is back in good standing.
What if I leave something behind?
Unfortunately, we can not be held responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items. Be sure to protect your personal property at all times!
Can I bring someone with me?
We do offer a limited waiting area and ask that children be supervised at all times. No other party is allowed with a client at time of tanning.

Our property is protected by 24 hour video surveillance with audio, monitored live on the Internet and recorded off premises to aide in the prosecution of any crime committed against our business, staff, and clients.
Why did I continue to be billed for my Club Membership after 6 months?
Per the Club Membership agreement, the contract term is a required six month term and continues to bill at the monthly rate until canceled by the customer or placed in Dormant Status. You can find our cancellation form at http://www.salondesol.com/files/cancellation.pdf
What is dormant status and associated fee?
This monthly fee allows Club Members to lock in their current package rate anytime after the end of their contract agreement as they take a break from tanning. This allows them the option to resume membership at their original rate when ready. Ask a member of our staff for more info!
Do you do special events?
Our salon accommodates most client requests and can offer services for multiple clients at a single time for special events (i.e. wedding, a day out with friends, etc.). These services are requested for specific dates/times and require advance planning. Please note that a non-refundable deposit equal to 20% of total estimated services requested is required at time of booking. This deposit will be applied to the final total upon services rendered. Please contact our staff for more info.
What do I need to do to cancel an appointment?
We all have things that come up. We would appreciate 24hrs notice on all cancellations, or as soon as possible. As always, just give us a call! For Special Events, the client shall forfeit their deposit upon cancellation or failure to show for the scheduled service and also forfeit any overage should the deposit amount exceed the total for services performed.
Refusal of and Modify Service Notice
We reserve the right to modify and/or refuse service to any client, including those that present a medical condition that may be contraindicated to services, including but not limited to cuts, wounds, rashes and skin condition.
Tanning of the skin is how the human body naturally protects itself from exposure to UV radiation from the sun or artificial sources. More information can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_tanning.
Dermatologists have categorized people into six different skin types based on the Fitzpatrick Scale (more info can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitzpatrick_scale) which start with the lightest and work up to the darkest. Our staff will distribute all new clients with a questionnaire based on this skin typing process. It is used to help identify the client's skin type and helps with estimating the number of sessions generally required for the client to establish a base tan and how long the client can typically be in the various tanning unit without experiencing sunburn. The client should be aware of their given skin type and maximum exposure time on the tanning units used when tanning indoors.
Tanning and Medications
Clients that are taking any medications or supplements should research if those items have the potential to create a photosensitive reaction. Agents that have photo-sensitizing properties could cause the client's skin to react negatively when exposed to UV radiation. Symptoms may include itchiness, rash, and burns. The client should always be aware of photosensitive medications and agents, and should consult with their physician before being exposed to UV light and radiation.
As always, please consult with your physician before being exposed to UV light and radiation. A large number of photo-sensitizing materials is documented in the information below, however, it is not complete. Before using the list, you should be aware of the following:
1.) Not all people who use or take these medications may experience a photosensitive reaction. An individual who experiences a photosensitive reaction on one occasion may not experience every time or again.
2.) A medication may not cause the same reaction in all individuals.
3.) Brand names are provided as example and are not representative of all names which the generic product may be sold.

Tanning and Your Eyes
The FDA requires that you wear compliant protective eye wear while you are in a tanning bed. This is why our staff checks to ensure you have protective eye ware with you before each visit and to remind you to wear them while tanning.
Protective Eye Wear Compliance
Federal law requires indoor tanning eye wear protection transmit less than 0.1 percent of UVB (blocking 99.9%), and less than 1 percent of UVA (blocking 99%) as proved in carefully controlled tests by the manufacturer. How do you know if your eye wear is compliant? Look to see if the manufacturer certifies the product is in compliance with 21 CFR 1040.20; if the package and material does not state this compliance, contact the manufacturer. We suggest you dispose of and do not use any questionable eye wear and replace it with a product that is compliant. All of the protective eye wear we offer for sale meet the 21 CFR 1040.20 compliance requirement.

Hair and Nails
Our hair and nail services are governed by the Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists and are inspected on a regular basis. A copy of our most recent inspection is posted in the salon for review.
SALON STAFF TRAINING
We offer our staff training on salon best practices, maintenance, and operation of our equipment. Topics include sanitization, disinfection, regulations, and focus on client support. Our staff gains knowledge from our vendors and the tanning community on a continual basis so that they can help the client with understanding of proper skin care, product selection and use, and general tanning fundamentals.
